Australia is a popular destination for international students who wish to pursue their education in Australia’s world-renowned universities and colleges. To study in Australia as an international student, one must obtain an Australian study visa, also known as a student visa.
The following are the requirements for obtaining an Australian study visa:
  • Confirmation of Enrollment (COE): A Confirmation of Enrollment (COE) from a registered Australian educational institution is the first requirement for an Australian study visa. The institution must be registered with the Australian government to host international students.
  • Financial capacity: To obtain an Australian study visa, the applicant must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to cover their tuition fees, living expenses, and any accompanying family members’ expenses. This can include bank statements or a letter from a sponsor.
  • Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement: The applicant must provide evidence that they intend to stay in Australia temporarily to study and will return to their home country after completing their studies.
  • English language proficiency: The applicant must demonstrate their proficiency in English by taking an approved language test such as IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Health requirements: The applicant must undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet Australia’s health requirements.
  • Character requirements: The applicant must provide a police clearance certificate from all countries where they have lived for 12 months or more in the last 10 years.
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC): The applicant must obtain and maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their stay in Australia.
