The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) is a program through which the province of Prince Edward Island nominates immigrants who have the skills and experience needed to fill labour market gaps in the province. The program has several streams through which individuals can apply for nomination.
Express Entry Stream:
This stream is aligned with the federal government’s Express Entry system, which is used to manage applications for permanent residency. Individuals who meet the eligibility criteria for one of the federal government’s economic immigration programs (Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class) and who also meet the criteria for the PEI Express Entry Stream can apply for a nomination from the province.
Labour Impact Stream:
This stream is for individuals who have a valid job offer from a PEI employer in a skilled occupation, as well as a willingness and ability to settle in the province. There are three categories under this stream:
  1. Skilled Worker Category: This category is for individuals who have been offered a permanent, full-time job from a PEI employer in a skilled occupation, and who have the necessary education, work experience, and language proficiency to succeed in that occupation.
  2. Critical Worker Category: This category is for individuals who have been offered a permanent, full-time job from a PEI employer in a semi-skilled or unskilled occupation, and who have the necessary education, work experience, and language proficiency to succeed in that occupation.
  3. International Graduate Category: This category is for individuals who have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada, and who have been offered a permanent, full-time job from a PEI employer in a skilled occupation that is related to their field of study.
Business Impact Category:
This stream is for individuals who are interested in investing in or starting a business in Prince Edward Island. There are two categories under this stream:
  1. Work Permit Stream: This category is for individuals who wish to start or purchase a business in PEI, and who are willing and able to actively manage the day-to-day operations of the business. Applicants must also meet minimum net worth and investment requirements, as well as other eligibility criteria.
  2. Entrepreneur Stream: This category is for individuals who wish to start or purchase a business in PEI, and who are willing and able to actively manage the day-to-day operations of the business. Applicants must submit a business plan and meet minimum net worth and investment requirements, as well as other eligibility criteria.
Atlantic Immigration Pilot:
This stream is a federal program that allows employers in PEI to hire foreign workers to fill job vacancies that cannot be filled by Canadian citizens or permanent residents. The program has three categories: high-skilled, intermediate-skilled, and international graduates.
