The Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSPNP) is a Canadian immigration program that allows the province of Nova Scotia to nominate immigrants who have the skills and experience needed to help grow the local economy and support the labour market needs of the province. The program is designed to attract skilled workers, businesspeople, and international graduates who have the potential to become permanent residents of Canada.

To apply to the NSPNP, applicants must first create an online profile through the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) website. Once an application is submitted, it will be assessed based on a variety of factors, including education, work experience, language ability, and ties to Nova Scotia.

If an applicant is nominated by the NSPNP, they can then apply to the federal government for permanent residency in Canada. Nominated candidates will receive additional points under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) used by the federal government’s Express Entry system, which can improve their chances of being selected for permanent residency.

The Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSPNP) offers several streams to help attract and retain skilled workers, international graduates, and entrepreneurs to the province. Here are the main streams of the NSPNP.
1.Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream:

This stream targets skilled workers who have experience in one of the in-demand occupations in Nova Scotia and have a profile in the federal government’s Express Entry system. Candidates must have at least one year of full-time work experience in the targeted occupation and meet other eligibility requirements.

2.Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry Stream

This stream targets skilled workers who have already worked in Nova Scotia for at least one year and have a profile in the federal government’s Express Entry system. Candidates must have at least one year of full-time work experience in a high-skilled occupation in Nova Scotia and meet other eligibility requirements.

3Skilled Worker Stream:

This stream targets skilled workers who have a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in a skilled occupation. Candidates must have the required education, work experience, and language ability for the job and meet other eligibility requirements.

4.Entrepreneur Stream:

This stream targets experienced business owners or senior business managers who want to start or acquire a business in Nova Scotia. Candidates must have a minimum net worth of CAD 600,000, provide a detailed business plan, and commit to actively managing the business in Nova Scotia.

5.International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream:

This stream targets international graduates who have completed at least two years of full-time study at a Nova Scotia university or college and want to start or acquire a business in Nova Scotia. Candidates must have a valid post-graduation work permit, provide a detailed business plan, and commit to actively managing the business in Nova Scotia.

6.Physician Stream:

This stream targets family physicians, specialists, and nurse practitioners who have a job offer from a Nova Scotia employer. Candidates must meet the licensing requirements of the Nova Scotia College of Physicians and Surgeons or the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia.

7.Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities Stream:

This stream targets candidates who have the skills and experience needed to meet the province’s labour market needs. It operates by inviting candidates who have been identified through the federal government’s Express Entry system to apply for nomination by the NSPNP.

8.The Atlantic Pilot Project:

It is a partnership between the federal government and the Atlantic provinces, including Nova Scotia, aimed at attracting and retaining skilled immigrants in the Atlantic region of Canada. As part of this initiative, the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSPNP) offers an additional stream called the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP).

To be eligible for the AIPP through the NSPNP, applicants must have a job offer from a designated employer in one of the four Atlantic provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Labrador, and Prince Edward Island). The job offer must be for a full-time, non-seasonal position, and the applicant must meet the minimum language, education, and work experience requirements for their category.
