Canada is a popular destination for international students who wish to pursue their education in Canada’s world-renowned universities and colleges. To study in Canada as an international student, one must obtain a Canada study visa, also known as a study permit.
The following are the requirements for obtaining a Canada study visa:
  • Acceptance letter: An acceptance letter from a designated learning institution (DLI) is the first requirement for a Canada study visa. The DLI must be approved by the Canadian government to host international students.
  • Proof of financial support: To obtain a Canada study visa, the applicant must provide evidence of sufficient financial support to cover their tuition fees and living expenses while in Canada. This can include bank statements, scholarship letters, or a letter from a sponsor.
  • Language proficiency: The applicant must demonstrate their proficiency in either English or French by taking an approved language test such as IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Medical examination: The applicant must undergo a medical examination by an approved physician to ensure they are in good health and free from any contagious diseases.
  • Criminal record check: The applicant must provide a police clearance certificate from all countries where they have lived for six months or more since the age of 18.
  • Statement of Purpose: The applicant must provide a detailed study plan outlining their academic, and career goals and plans.
  • Biometric information: The applicant must provide biometric information (fingerprints and photographs) at a designated visa application center.
